Another cut in diesel price? - National News Updates

NEW DELHI: The government could be thinking of slashing diesel price as a relief to farmers and the transportation sector.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora, however, said: “We have neither prepared any note on this issue nor there is a demand from any quarter for such a move. There is no move to cut prices at present.”
Informed sources said there was a talk of price cut within the corridors of power and the matter informally came up for discussion at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Monday.
Officials said the price cut had to come in the next two or three days as there was a possibility of polls being announced anytime. But, no price cut was being mulled for petrol or LPG.
